ANLCA elections: Chairmanship contestant, Adewusi, promises to improve operational standards

Prince Bamigbala Adejare Adewusi has stated that if he is elected as the chapter chairman of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Murtala Muhammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos, he will improve the operational standards of the clearing profession in the airport by creating effective systems and enthrone an enabling environment for agents to operate seamlessly.

Adewusi made this promise at a rally on Monday where he publicly declared his intention to contest for the position of the ANLCA chairman of the chapter at the association’s secretariat located in the airport.

The contestant equally promised his supporters and all members of the chapter various empowerment programmes which include training, provision of ICT facility, among others. According to him, ‘’my administration will create an avenue for training of our members on job sourcing, ICT which will help them to be up-to-date in their profession.’’

Adewusi said that transparency would be his guiding principle while the welfare of members would be paramount to his administration and that his administration would work with all the agencies in the airport towards granting of incentives to his members.

He noted that he is the most qualified among all the contestants considering his antecedents in the association having served in various capacities and as the incumbent Vice Chairman. He added that his pedigree in the customs agency work speaks volumes having learnt the profession and rose through ranks from a low cadre to an executive director of a licensed customs agency.

According to him, ‘’having gone through the ranks and file of this profession back in the days with RAO Nigeria Limited for several years, I rose from the post of an entry clerk to the post of executive director. I went into partnership with many companies. I cannot but say I am well grounded and experienced on the job with chains of business to show for it.

‘’My foray into ANLCA service began with being appointed as a Personal Assistant to Chief Richard Olalere Ogundele, the then Chairman of our MMIA chapter. I served diligently in various committees including revenue generation committee in his administration. I was elected as the financial secretary and served under the chairmanship of Mr. Dada Agubuzor, and I am currently the Vice Chairman under the chairmanship of Nze Aloy Igwe.

‘’It won’t be an overstatement for me to say that I have been properly groomed for the duties of the chairman of ANLCA.’’

He charged his supporters and members of the association to vote for him in the December 2018 elections.

Speaking at the rally, the Commissioner of Police, Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command, Ikeja, Alhaji Aminu Pai Saleh charged members of ANLCA to be law-abiding in their preparation for the elections into the airport chapter of the association.

The Police boss stated that ANLCA is a key stakeholder in the airport and he was at the rally to identify with the association and assured members of the association that the police would work with them to ensure peace during and after the election.

He told them the police command would work with anybody who emerges as the new chairman of the association.

Also speaking, the incumbent chairman, Nze Aloy Igwe said that the three contestants for the office are men of integrity and substances, saying that Adewusi is bestowed with a lot of potentials to lead the association.

He noted that the big problem is the supporters and called on the supporters of the three chairmanship contestants to be mindful of their utterances and play according to the rules of the elections.
