The Nigeria Customs Service has donated some relief items to boost the Federal Government continuous efforts to alleviate sufferings associated with the ongoing lockdown in some parts of the Country as the Comptroller General of Customs, Col, Hameed Ali (Rtd) approved the release of the relief items.
The items include rice, vegetable oil, palm oil, tomato paste, spaghetti/noodle, Ankara fabric and lace fabric. Estimated market value of the items is N3,25L,8A6,0 00 with Duty Paid Value of (N2,0 3 4,9 54,7 6 5.0 0).
This was contained in a press statement issued by Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah, National Public Relations Officer of the Service, who noted that only edible items certified fit for human consumption by NAFDAC were released to the public. ‘’As a responsible agency of Government, Nigeria Customs Service appreciates the opportunity of contributing its quota to Federal Government’s continuous efforts to provide relief for Nigerians in this difficult time. The Service remains committed to strictly adhering to all extant law-s governing seized and overtime cargoes. Despite the prevailing risks, the Service will continue to discharge its functions of securing the land borders and collection of revenue that is needed during and post Covid- 19 pandemic period,’’ said the Service.
