FG told to stop harassing Ndigbo

Usuwa

Ndigbo at home and abroad will be better off in the Sovereign State of Biafra rather than being the citizens of Nigeria, said Mr. Usuwa Augustine, a member of the Movement of the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra.

Usuwa, who now lives in Italy on self-exile, stated this in a release made available to PortNews in Lagos. He praised the resilience of Ndigbo towards the actualization of the Biafra State, noting that actualizing the dream would not come easily.

He advised them not to be discouraged but rather continued to give the necessary support to all the leaders who are championing the cause.

Usuwa noted that the level of harassment of MASSOB and IPOB members by the federal government is unbecoming of a government that prides itself a change government.

Usuwa, who hails from Abia State, said he left the country because he was being harassed by the federal government as a result of his active engagement in the movement. He said he had to go into hiding before leaving the country finally.

According to him, “the reason why I left Nigeria was because I was having problem with the government. I am a member of the Movement of the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra- MASSOB. My problem started on the 30 of May 2013 the day we were holding remembrance rally in honour of our fallen heroes in Aba, Abia State. The Nigerian soldier came and disrupted the rally and I was elbowed in the eyes by the soldier.

“I relocated to Lagos where I started transport business. But this did not end here as I was being targeted by government agencies for arrest. Since I could not continue to be in hiding, I left the country through Niger Republic in 2014, to save my life and then moved to Libya thereafter. From here I relocated to Nigeria when Libya was in crisis before I finally left Nigeria for Italy where I now live.”

He said the Nigeria government must stop harassing people of the South East who are legitimately fighting for their rights.
