Maritime training institution holds graduation, matriculates new students in Nigeria

The Rector of Lagos Aviation and Maritime Business Academy – LAMB – Lagos, Dr. Emeka Udowu has said the academy has produced over ten thousand graduates in different technical disciplines to fill various professional capacities in the Nigeria labour market since its inception in 2002.

With this development, he said the academy has contributed to the growth of technical education in Nigeria and has tinkered with its re-engineering process by coming up with new ideologies and programmes in line with approved curriculum in taking the academy to a new height.

The Rector disclosed this in a speech he delivered at the 9th Convocation and 4th NID Matriculation of the school last week at Ijegun, Lagos.

According to Udowu, “our students inspiring performance when serving Industrial Training and the enviable position occupied by our past graduates in various sector of the economy attest to the quality of technical education we offer. All our courses are curriculum based, practical oriented and set out to align and meet with the expectation of the market.”

He noted that the academy has given scholarship worth over twenty million Naira to indigent students in form of free tuition, discount in fees, saying this was done to assist them to achieving academic goals in their chosen fields of academy.

Over 50 students of LAMB including students from Crown Maritime Academy, Ogba Lagos participated in the graduation and 140 matriculated in the new academic session at LAMB.

Speaking to PortNews at the occasion, Rector of Crown Maritime Academy – CMA, Dr. Musa G. Akinyemi said the participation of Crown Maritime Academy in the graduation was as a result of academic synergy between LAMB and CMA towards the growth of technical education in the country.

He noted that the two institutions are partners and assured that they would continue to partner for the purpose of growing technical education in the country.
