NAMA commended by IATA on accurate billing system

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has been commended by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for its consistency and accurate billing of airlines in the last three years, according a statement issued by NAMA.

IATA, in the statement, said feat has ensured that the error in bills posted by NAMA for its services to airlines has reduced to less than two percent from over 30 per cent nine years ago.

NAMA said IATA made the commendation at the IATA/NAMA Service Review Meeting which held at IATA’s office in Geneva, Switzerland.

NAMA quoted the Director of Airline Settlement Service of IATA, Manfred Blondeel ,as saying that NAMA had carved a niche for itself as the best out of 75 authorities and over 4000 airlines it was dealing with globally in terms of reduced error rate and disputes in bills posted by NAMA to IATA.

‘Considering the myriad of disputes that we notice daily from errors by some authorities, some errors even exceeding 50 per cent, it is to our delight that the dispute/error rate of NAMA billing has consistently remained the lowest in the world with over 98 percent accuracy,’ said   Blondeel.

The Managing Director of NAMA, Captain Fola Akinkuotu attributed the feat to the reforms being embarked upon by the agency towards ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency in service delivery, which involved automating its business transactions.
