The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has said that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) was an important stakeholder in aviation and for IATA in Africa and Middle East.

Mr. Michael Burke, Regional Director, IATA Account Management (Africa & Middle East) stated this when he visited Nigeria and West Africa for the first time.

Reeling out his priorities for the region in year 2019 to the Director General of NCAA, Captain Muhtar Usman on Wednesday, 12th December, 2018, Burke noted that as part of efforts to deepen capacity and professionalism in the critical service areas of air transport in Nigeria, IATA has strengthened collaboration with aviation agencies.

According to him, IATA has added five (5) delivery teams – Air Transport Facilitation, Policy Regulation and Advocacy, Air Traffic Management, Finance and Distribution Services and Consumer Protection – to increase its collaborative capacity.

‘’NCAA is an important stakeholder in aviation and for IATA in the region,’’ said Burke.

In his response, Mr. Ahmed Sanusi, the Director, Human Resources & Administration (DHR&A), who represented the Director General, Captain Muhtar Usman, thanked IATA for the sustained working relationship so far and welcomed the new additions to areas of collaboration.

He closed the meeting by affirming that NCAA will continue to partner with IATA in the drive to bring development to global aviation.
