NCAA blames FAAN for airports certification delay

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has blamed the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria for the delay in the much touted certification of airports in the country. Captain Muhktar Usman, DG NCAA, speaking to pressmen in Lagos yesterday said that the April date earlier set by FAAN was merely based on projections. He promised that certifications will soon be carried out based on the safety measures put in place by the airport operator.
Meanwhile, the first phase of the Federal Airport Authority/International Air Services Assessment ended yesterday even as Nigeria still retained its Category 1 status. Capt. Muhktar Usman said that during the visit which started on Monday this week some findings and observation were made by the officials from the United States.

According to Usman a preliminary report on the findings and observations will be written by the officials within 30 days.
Capt. Usman also stated that final report on the audit visit will also be written within 65 days.
He was however optimistic that Nigeria will excel and the country will retain its status.
