Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will henceforth actively collaborate with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to ensure that all airports are safe and secure for airline operations just it commences full scale investigation into a security breach when a huge crowd that recently flagrantly broke all security rules and gained unauthorised access to the critical areas of the Sultan Abubakar Sadiq 111 International Airport, Sokoto including the runway, the taxiway and the apron.
According to a statement signed by Mr. Sam Adurogboye, General Manager Public Relations of NCAA, the safety and security violation was perpetrated by supporters of a politician from Sokoto arriving in the state through the airport.
Said the statement: “The Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs) Part 17.48.3(c) stipulates that “access by persons and vehicles to restricted areas, enhanced security restricted areas and sterile areas are restricted only to persons who have a clear need for such access by virtue of their duties.
“NCAA will not tolerate the recurrence of any such safety and security violations at any of the nation’s airports.’’
In anticipation of the impending political season, the NCAA warned party supporters and the general public to desist from unlawful acts as NCAA will not hesitate to impose severe sanctions on any person, group of persons or organisations found culpable.
