The Nigerian Shippers Council has been awarded the “World Bank 2019 Doing Business Ranking Award” for its contribution towards the success of the Government’s Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) in 2018.
An award which no doubt is a proof of the dedicated Commitment of NSC Executive Secretary, Hassan Bello and his Management determination to ensuring the success of Buhari’s Government initiatives is the second annual PEBEC Awards; and it took place at the State House Conference Hall (Old Banquet Hall), hosted by the PEBEC, a revered body which is chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
In her welcome remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade & Investment / PEBEC Secretary, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole highlighted that the PEBEC Awards was aimed at acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of specific arms of government, sub-national governments; ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government, as well as the private sector stakeholders who contributed significantly to the ease of doing business intervention of the Administration.
She added that the collaborative efforts and continuous support of these stakeholders have significantly contributed towards improving Nigeria’s business climate and overall competitiveness in line with a key strategic objective of the Economic Recovery & Growth Plan (ERGP).
Speaking on the same note, the Vice President and Chairman of PEBEC, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo stressed that it was needful to recognize the stakeholders who implemented the impactful and landmark reforms in the year 2018, as well as to recognize members of the private sector who have expressly supported the intervention. While presenting the Award to the Executive Secretary/CEO Mr.Hassan Bello, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo congratulated the NSC and urged the Awardees to keep up the excellent work.
