The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has disclosed that it has concluded plans to commence the dredging of the Escravos channel leading ports in Delta State.
The Managing Director of NPA Hadiza Bala Usman while on visit to the Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Ikewoli 11, in his palace in Warri, Delta State, made the disclosure.
The NPA boss was represented by the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Dr. Sokonte Davies.
The monarch in his address said the dredging of Escravos channel will boost the economy of Delta state and noted that his people were excited and happy about the dredging.
The royal father however called on all stakeholders in the delta ports to give maximum and unflinching support to the management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), under Hadiza Bala Usman for the region to benefit from the transformation which dredging has brought.
According to the Monarch, Hadiza Bala Usman, as the first female Managing Director has transformed the fortunes of the sea ports in his domain, namely Warri, Koko and Sapele ports which has been dormant over the years and therefore the people of the domain will always be proud to associate her.
Also speaking, the Port Manager of Delta ports, Warri, Mr. Simon Okeke disclosed that Warri port has never had it better than now and commended the present executive Management for providing infrastructure that is making Warri port to function optimally.
