The Founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam has stoutly come to the defense of the suspended managing director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Hadiza Bala Usman, saying that her present ordeal was because of her sterling public administration and may come out of the quagmire stronger and better.
Rating Hadiza Usman Bala above board in her mandate to administer Nigerian Ports Authority, the Founder equated Hadiza Bala Usman with Barrister Hassan Bello, Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers’ Council in terms of the sound pedigree of efficiency in port administration and management but the ordeal is a consequence of fighting corruption in Nigeria.
Aniebonam who defended Hadiza Bala Usman in a post on various Whatsapp maritime platforms titled – Hadiza Bala Usman May Come Out Stronger and Better in Public Administration on Thereafter the Suspension Orders – vowed that NAGAFF would never see anything good in the leadership of the transportation ministry as long as the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) is still being run like a government agency.
Aniebonam said “It shall be the position and thoughts of NAGAFF and its members that Hadiza Bala Usman of the Nigerian Ports Authority shall be a more popular personality in public administration thereafter her ordeal in suspension orders. It is to NAGAFF that her suspension was avoidably swift for a person of her cadre and status in public responsibility and administration. This simply suggests that if something did not pursue Hadiza then she must have pursued something avoidably. NAGAFF shall therefore speak from its vantage position to make an informed judgment to rate her above board in her mandate to administer Nigerian Ports Authority. She has the same pedigree of efficiency in port administration and management as Barr Hassan Bello of the Nigerian Shippers Council.
“However we are all conversant and familiar with the consequences of fighting corruption in Nigeria as the case may be. NAGAFF shall never see anything good with the leadership of the transportation ministry as long as the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria is concerned. It is our hope that Hon Rotimi Amaechi shall see reasons to give character and direction to CRFFN administration and management.”
According to the NAGAFF Founder, CRFFN is the last hope of young freight forwarders to earn a living professionally.
“CRFFN may be the last hope of the young freight forwarders in Nigeria to earn their living professionally. Unfortunately, the leadership of the transportation ministry at various times from inception never allowed it (CRFFN)to materialise. CRFFN is not made to be an agency of the government as it were. However, we are at the appeal court in that regard. That is a ministry today the Federal Government may be wasting her meagre resources avoidably. God help Nigerian, “ Aniebonam submitted.
