APMT, Nigerian Railways agree to resume cargo rail


APM Terminals Apapa and the Nigerian Railways Corporation have agreed to resume evacuation of containers by rail from Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, to other parts of the country. The Use rail for evacuation of cargo to hinterlands was suspended temporarily.

The Nigerian Shippers Council brokered a meeting between the Railway Corporation and APM Terminals in an effort to enhance operational efficiency and to encourage multimodal approach to cargo evacuation especially within this period.

Rakiya Zubairu, Head of Public Relations, Nigerian Shippers Council, made this known in a press statement, saying that the meeting between the two organizations was held when the Council paid a working visit to APM Terminals. 

According to Zubairu, both parties pledged to abide with the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) already established.
