The President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, says the Union is ready for mutual cooperation and collaboration with the new executives of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) to grow the nation’s maritime industry and the national economy.
Comrade Adewale Adeyanju stated this when the new ANLCA executive led by the Vice President Olusegun Oduntan paid a courtesy visit to the MWUN President-General and his national executives at the Union’s National Secretariat situated at Osho Drive, Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, where Comrade Adeyanju played host.
Congratulating the new ANLCA executive Comrade Adeyanju, who is also the Deputy President of Nigeria Labour Congress noted that the ANCLA been initially marred with so many back and forth with issues bordering on factional divisions amongst others, but all that had become history as the association now has wonderful executives in place.
“This is to say that the recent elections have brought about what we now have and see today as new ANCLA leaders. In this vein, I want to commend both the past and the present Executives for this latest uninterrupted election and pray this administration will usher in the much awaited peace to reign supreme in ANCLA.
“We as members of the Maritime Workers Union are happy with you and hope to keep our doors open for mutual cooperation and for a possible collaboration which will strengthen both organisations to positively impact our nation’s economy in the maritime industry,” said the President-General.
Prince Adeyanju who was full of praise for both losers and winners of the just concluded ANCLA elections said there’s need to carry everyone along in the scheme of things as if there was no loser, no winner could have emerged; therefore, all hands must be on deck for a better administration of the Association.
The number uno of the Maritime Labour Industry admonished the new leadership to work in one direction of purpose, while congratulating the new leaders. He also promised the ANCLA leaders that he is poised to reciprocate the visit in earnest.
While speaking, Prince Olusegun Oduntan said the leadership of ANCLA would reciprocate in same gesture by ensuring both bodies will synergise together in order to achieve one common goal of growing the country’s economy through all the seaports.
Oduntan described Comrade Adeyanju as a man of peace, whose leadership acumen in the sector cannot be over-emphasised; hence, the visit to the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria was very paramount to the new leadership of ANCLA.
The Vice President reiterated that an industry like maritime sector should focus more on peaceful coexistence among the various operators, noting that all hands should be on deck to support the Bola Tinubu administration.
He stated that the ANLCA hold the MWUN in high esteem thus the visit would further create a working environment and identify various challenges befalling against the maritime industry.
ANLCA Vice President, Prince Olusegun Oduntan, was accompanied on the visit by Olumide Fakanlu, General Secretary, Hajia Bola Muse, Treasurer, Femi Anifowose, Zonal Coordinator West, and Emmanuel Onyeme, National Publicity Secretary.
