The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello Koko, has called on port stakeholders to develop a port master plan that is scientific and economically driven.
Bello Koko said this will guide against discretionary approvals for states to construct ports, which are politically motivated.
The NPA MD, who was represented by the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Hon. Onari Brown, stated this in a keynote address at the stakeholders’ workshop for the development of a 25-Year National Port Master Plan in Lagos
Koko invited the stakeholders to contribute to the masterplan document and make it a timeless masterpiece.
“The master plan will be a guiding document for investments in port expansion, port development—brownfield and greenfield developments—and all modes of transportation,” said he.
Among the stakeholders present were the Governor of Lagos State, represented by the Commissioner of Transportation; representatives of CG Immigration; the IG of Police; DG Railway; and a host of others.
