This development was contained in a press statement made available to PortNews by Snake Island Integrated Free Zone in Lagos, yesterday.

While commenting on the milestone, the Managing Director, Snake Island Management Company (SIMCO), Semiu Akorede said: “In the past two decades, free zones have played a critical role in Africa’s economic growth, and we have a remarkable track record of attracting sizable investments and boosting socio-economic activities across West Africa. Our attainment of active member status in AEZO reiterates our commitment to long-term sector collaboration and policy advocacy.”

Established in 2005, SIIFZ has substantially contributed to Nigeria’s free zone scheme. Major activities within the economic zone include terminal operations, marine services, manufacturing, and industrial development.
