President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors, foreign envoys, Ministers of Transportation, Marine and Blue Economy, Aviation and Aerospace, and transportation technocrats and experts from Nigeria and overseas are expected to grace the first edition of Global Transport Policy (GTP) Roundtable slated for 24th April, 2024 at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
The theme of the roundtable is, Transport Infrastructure and Strategic Policy Intervention: Building Blocks for Economic Growth.
Chairman/Chief Consultant, Global Transport Policy, Dr. Oluwasegun Musa stated this while addressing the press at Ikeja in Lagos today.
Dr. Musa noted that the roundtable is imperative as the recent trends and developments in the country have shown the need for urgent conversation to foster economic growth in the transport industry.
The Chairman stressed that the GTP Roundtable is also keen on unveiling the critical components of the transport industry as prime enablers for rapid growth.
Musa, who said the theme of the event captures the desires of stakeholders, described the event this way: “It is a call to action across the spectrum of industry players. It is a critical roundtable that will converge the government, industry technocrats, relevant unions, royal fathers, the academia, diplomats, the press and every other players critical to the advancement of the industry through dialogue, and essential conversation to drive the industry forward.
“As you already know, trends and developments in recent times have shown the need for this urgent conversation to foster economic growth in the transport industry. With panel sessions of esteemed stakeholders and critical dialogues around topical issues that spotlight grey areas for strategic inputs for policy interventions, GTP annual roundtable is keen on unveiling the critical components of the transport industry as prime enablers for rapid growth.
“The discourse would also be tackling possibilities for states to engender comprehensive transport growth for economic impact through strategic collaborations to reinforce national advancement.”
He averred that the mission behind the event “is to amplify the conversation that with an excellent transport infrastructure blueprint, Nigeria shall indeed become a continental economic powerhouse because transport infrastructure serves as the lifeblood of our interconnected world, facilitating the movement of people, goods, and ideas across climes and nations. With efficient transportation networks, efficient trade, innovations, and social cohesion are guaranteed.”
He added that in the day of the event, Global Transport Policy magazine, a bilingual magazine, shall be launched.
Also expected at the event are heads of government agencies such as the Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigeria Railway Corporation, Central Bank of Nigeria, etc.
